ANS Inspections

Aquatic Nuisance Species Inspection at Lake San Cristobal

Planning a trip to Lake San Cristobal with your boat? All motorized and trailered boats must undergo a quick inspection for aquatic nuisance species (ANS) before launching. Located in the upper parking lot at the boat ramp immediately to the right when entering the boat launch facility, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) operates the inspection station daily from 6am-8pm daily (hours subject to change in fall). These free inspections help protect our pristine waters from invasive species like zebra and quagga mussels. For fastest service, arrive with your boat clean, drained, and dried. If needed, a decontamination will be conducted prior to launch. Attention paddlers: While stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and other hand launched and human powered craft don’t mandatory inspections, please help protect our waters. Always clean off any mud or plants, drain all water, and ensure your equipment is completely dry between uses, especially if you’ve been in other waters.
